FINDING AND BUYING THE BOOKS. Finding the books: My advice for finding such books is to first find out if the book you want is still in print or no longer in print. To do this, you need to visit a few online bookshops. Hopefully, at least one of these bookshops will have the book your searching for in their database. Thus, they will be able to inform you if the book is still in print or not. If the book is still in print, you should have no trouble purchasing a copy of it from the very bookshop you carried out this search. But if it is no longer in print, you will need to expand your search. To purchase a book that is no longer in print, the easiest option is to search for it in online bookstores because you need only sit at your computer and yet are able to search globally. I recommend using a search engine such as Goggle to find online bookstores if you do not know of many. (You will also find some links below.) If your budget is tight, try visiting Ebay – a buy and sell website, where used copies of the book may be on sale. Many people do not like the idea of purchasing stuff over the Internet however. Some are also too young to hold credit cards. In this case, your search will need to be more proactive. Start your search locally. Check out all the libraries in your proximity. Most libraries are branches that interconnect with other libraries, so in this case, you can perform catalogue searches for multiple libraries at once. If you are in luck, you may get to read the book you want without having to purchase it! But if your library search fails, try scanning local bookstores. You may have to travel to major bookstores but it may be worth the effort, as there are bound to be others looking for the same book as you. If you do not find your book at a major bookstore, try asking the bookstore assistant if they could order the book in for you. If the bookstore is a large chain, they will do this for you. You could also ask them to search for the book at their other store locations. If you have no success with libraries and bookstores, try visiting markets and book factory sales. Do not forget to ask family and friends if they have the book. Try to see if an overseas relative or friend is willing to look for the book and send it to you. If you become desperate, you could try placing an advertisement in a newspaper. Unfortunately, if your search is still fruitless, your last option will have to be the Internet. Many online bookstores accept other forms of payment besides credit cards. But, if the book you want cannot be found in any of the online bookstores you have tried, Ebay will have to be your last stop. The good thing about Ebay is that almost everything you can think of is on sale there! So, you just might find your book. If Ebay fails, you could try to contact the publisher of the book and ask them if they will be willing to print you a copy. It is very unlikely they will do this just for you though.
