Why Quinn? Quite a few people have asked me why I made a web-site dedicated to a book character of all things. So, I will explain this first. Why make a web-site dedicated to a book character? I chose to make this shrine because I thought Quinn was a great book character. I craved to know more him after reading Daughters of Darkness but I was disappointed that no one site had information about him beyond the basics. Once I read The Chosen, I liked Quinn even more! And, because I enjoy making web-pages, I thought why not put up this site so that other fans can come here and get their Quinn fix. There are other things that I like enough to make web-sites for but they already have many sites dedicated to them. As far as I know, this is the first and only web-site completely devoted to Quinn. This was incentive enough to make me go through all the effort of putting together this site but I am hoping this web-site will also allow me to get to know more Quinn fans. Of all book characters, why Quinn? Some reasons why I prefer Quinn are listed below. First of all, I absolutely loved his personality! Quinn could be harsh and violent, but he also had charm, and he was a believer of honour and loyalty. I found his personality to be very realistic and I myself hold loyalty at a high value. Plus, I adored his sarcasm! Even after having read The Chosen and Daughters of Darkness a million times, his words still make me smile. Secondly, while I cannot claim to like the realism of Quinn for he is a vampire, I do appreciate the normality of his looks. L. J. Smith has kept Quinn’s physical characteristics pretty ordinary; dark hair and dark eyes, with pale skin. His looks are simple and I value simplicity. Exotic looks on book characters are nice but if you, for example, adored Ash Redfern, you would not find many guys who have eyes that keep changing colour. I have found that the male book characters I like usually have physical characteristics that I prefer in my guys, such as black hair and dark eyes. Besides being a vampire, Quinn was a realistic character in both his looks and his personality. I also liked the fact that his character wasn’t sheltered. Quinn experienced pain and loss in his life just like the rest of us do. He knows how it feels to lose someone you love, to have family members against you, to hate and to be hated. And, despite all that he’d been through, he was still able to overcome the injustices of his life and love somebody. Normal people like you and I experience injustices in our lives – sadly, it’s a reality. But this allowed me to relate to Quinn. I didn’t just see him as funny and sexy, but also as a realistic character with raw emotions. [ -- Back. |
